Dundee Sustainable Technologies Inc. completes demonstration campaign report
MONTREAL, QUEBEC, June 20, 2017 – Dundee Sustainable Technologies Inc. (“DST” or the “Corporation”) (CSE: DST) is pleased to announce that it has completed an internal demonstration campaign report (the “Report”) utilizing its proprietary gold extraction process on a complex gold concentrate originating from Chile (refer to December 13, 2016 Press Release). Gold recoveries in excess of 97% at the outlet of the chlorination reactor were attained.
The Report was prepared to evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of applying the technology at a commercial scale. It considers the technical and preliminary economic viability of a regional gold processing facility and confirms the value of the intellectual property.
The Report was based on a commercial facility that can process 50,000 tonne per annum of complex sulphide gold concentrates with an average delivered grade of 107 grams per tonne of gold, 9.3% copper and over 700 ppm mercury.
Highlights of the Report are as follows:
- Concentrate processed: 50,000 tonnes per year
- Gold production: 160,000 ounces per year
- Copper production: 9.7 million pounds per year
- Sulphuric acid production: 43,000 tonnes per year
- Annual revenue: $214 million
- Capital cost: $130 million
- Project IRR: 24.6%
- Pre-tax NPV: $141 million
- Payback: 3.9 years
DST has signed Memorandum Of Understandings (“MOU’s”) with independent third parties in Chile who have expressed interest in providing gold concentrate to a regional gold processing facility using the Corporation’s technology. These MOU’s represent approximately 40% of the annual processing capacity and DST intends to further explore and solidify these market opportunities.
DST is ready to fully realize the value its proprietary technologies. The Corporation has assembled an experienced management and technical team. It seeks to achieve the highest standards possible from DST’s proprietary chlorination process. Utilizing proven and environmentally friendly processes, it extracts gold and stabilizes arsenic by vitrification and has the ability to unlock value for gold mining companies on a worldwide basis.
DST plans to impact the mining industry by:
- Providing its chlorination process to mining companies and projects that are struggling to obtain permits in jurisdictions that have banned or restricted the use of cyanide;
- Providing a viable outlet for gold ores showing metallurgical challenges due to processing and/or contaminant restrictions;
- Providing mining companies with the key and leverage to acquire stranded assets at a discounted price due to environmental or metallurgical issues; and
- Permanently and efficiently stabilizing arsenical matter from smelter flue dusts, legacy tailings or removed from a mineral concentrate.
The scientific and technical content of this news release has been reviewed, prepared and approved by Mr. Jean-Philippe Mai, P.Geo. Vice President Business Development at DST, who is a "Qualified Person" as defined by National Instrument 43-101 – Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects ("NI 43-101").
